GRILLED CHEESES BURGER

This April, kick off spring with an original meal from RJ Grunts . Grunts’ funky Grilled Cheeses Burger of the Month offers double-time flavor with a combo of two classic sandwiches (we’ll spell it out – grilled cheese meets burger) that will leave your taste buds wanting more.

The Grilled Cheeses Burger, quite literally, is a traditional Grunts burger patty sandwiched between two Brioche grilled cheeses of Smoked Gouda and Fontina, drenched in a tangy tomato soup reduction and Old English Mustard. So much, it tastes like it has been dunked in a cup of warm, homemade soup! If that doesn’t give you something to smile about during the Windy City’s lingering frozen tundra, well, try it during the month of April and you will.

Rich Melman and Jerry Orzoff launched the Lettuce Entertain You empire with this restaurant, back in 1971. Designed to feed hippies with the munchies, R.J. Grunts still offers plenty of appealing chow, from the all-you-can-eat salad bar — Grunts introduced the salad bar to Chicago — to chili, burgers, malts and more.

April also marks National Garlic Month (…but you probably already knew that). In honor of the occasion, we want to spotlight RPM Italian’s  Truffle Garlic Bread (circa 1963). Order up the delicious creation as a starter to share, or as a complement to any dish, such as the Handmade Cavatelli with pork and beef ragú or the Mushroom Agnolotti with smoked ricotta and cremini mushrooms.
