The New Kinzie Hotel:
(20 W. Kinzie St.), a boutique River North property previously recognized as the Amalfi Hotel, boasts a successful rebrand following a three month, multi-million dollar renovation beginning in December 2013. Recently released imagery provides a before-and-after glance of the hotel’s drastic design overhaul in creating a lush new lobby, stylish guestrooms, Chicago-centric design and artwork, and state-of-the-art meeting spaces.
“With the overwhelming response we’ve received since the rebrand from the Amalfi Hotel to Kinzie Hotel, we’re excited to share imagery that captures the hotel’s dedication to Chicago,” says Director of Sales and Marketing Jose Angulo. “To stay true to our city, we’ve partnered with Chicago-based architects and designers in bringing to life a blend of local history and landscape within the design renovations.”
Phase I: Guestrooms and Elevator Lobbies
Guestrooms:
In December 2013, phase one overhauled all guestrooms and elevator lobbies beginning on the second floor, which was completed in February 2014. In order to continue serving guests throughout the renovation process, the team renovated one floor at a time. The Amalfi Hotel was originally designed as a layover property for pilots and flight attendants looking for a peaceful sleep. With that in mind, each floor was constructed with soundproof walls, preventing guests from disruption during this phase of the renovation.
Chicago-based architects with Gettys Design Group led the Kinzie Hotel design to include the lobby, 210 guestrooms and five suites, elevator lobbies, meeting spaces, and guest lounge. During the planning of the rebrand, the hotel team worked closely with Gettys to ensure a Chicago-centric emphasis of all design elements to bring to life the story of the hotel.
