In case you weren’t aware, June is about MUCH more than graduations and weddings and fathers. June is also about the steaks. That’s right, you’re in the midst of National Steakhouse Month, a whole month dedicated to steakhouses and their classic, savory wares. In honor of the occasion,
is celebrating steaks with a special three-course menu available for the duration of the month.
The cool thing about steakhouses nowadays is that modern or vintage, they’re equally laudable. Folks love old-school steakhouses for their classic menu items, preparations, and surly career waiters with a comforting gruff ‘tude. There’s something quintessentially Americana and nostalgic about a vintage steakhouse experience. But then you also have the modernized variations, which skew towards glamor, pomp, and circumstance. These often palatial institutions are just as darling, but for different reasons. Drinks are often a helluva lot more amibitious than dirty matinis, servers are usually pretty young and spry, and steaks come with a myriad of neo accoutrements like foie gras butter and other fancy ways to die.
Michael Jordan’s Steak House is the special restaurant that bridges the gap, offering a little bit of both and doing a damn fine job on both accounts. The essence of the steakhouse experience is as revered and classic as could be, but the motif and vibe is slick and modern, making it the perfect destination to celebrate National Steakhouse Month.
To mark the occasion, all month long the restaurant will be offering a special three-course degustation for $49 per person. The menu pays homage to old-school steakhouse essentials, starting with shrimp de jonghe with black garlic-truffle butter, sherry, and croutons. Next is steak Diane with sous vide filet mignon, brandy-peppercorn sauce, and confit wild mushrooms. For dessert, it’s black forest cake made with warm chocolate budino, cherries, and creme fraiche gelato.
Happy eating!
