Recognized as Chicago’s oldest prime steakhouse, Gene & Georgetti was founded in 1941 by Gene Michelotti and Alfredo Federighi (who was nicknamed “Georgetti” after a famous Italian cyclist). While both are now gone, their legacies live on with the River North restaurant that’s consistently listed as one of Chicago’s top steakhouses.

The menu hasn’t changed much since its humble beginnings as an Italian steakhouse. You’ll find a good number of prime steaks and classic Italian dishes made with portions generous enough to share. All steaks and chops are broiled (think lamb chops, t-bone steaks and filet mignon), and highly recommended sides range from garlic mashed potatoes to creamed spinach.

The Estate by Gene & Georgetti

The Estate by Gene & Georgetti will be an elegantly designed private events and wedding venue offering menus that can be customized for any occasion. Exclusive to The Estate, is the Gene & Georgetti Signature Selections of famous classics like appetizers of Baked Clams, Fried Ravioli, Shrimp Cocktail; entrees of Lamb Chops, New York Strip, Prime Rib, Chicken alla Joe, and Garbage Salad; sides including Creamed Spinach, Sauteed Peppers, Mushrooms, Lyonnaise Potatoes; and desserts including Tuxedo Mousse Cake, Carrot Cake, Tiramisu and Spumoni.

New menu items will use locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, while elevating traditional wedding fare with a customizable, evolving menu catered to the tastes of each client.

The 5,000 square foot Grand Ballroom can seat 300 (with a dance floor), or 600 for standing receptions. Amenities will include a bridal suite, floor length linens, chivalry chairs, wedding cake and coffee service, complimentary valet and/or self-park.
