Steakhouses Honor Mad Men
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House and Sullivan’s Steakhouse serve up an homage to Mad Men.
If there’s any restaurant in tune with the burly, suave badassery and bygone Americana of Mad Men, it’s a steakhouse. Brimming with manly meats and boozy martinis, steakhouses are as vital to the Mad Men era as hair spray and cigarettes, which is why a three-martini steakhouse lunch is such an appropriate way to celebrate Mad Men’s final season. In honor of the famed television show’s swan song, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House and all three Chicagoland locations of Sullivan’s Steakhouse are serving up three-martini lunch specials for the duration of the final season, which is currently airing.
While you may not be able to smoke indoors anymore, or womanize with reckless abandon as the televised Men seem to do, you can partake in a martini-soaked lunch thanks to these new steakhouse promotions. Embrace the retro-era style of Mad Men by enjoying any or all of the restaurant’s new specialty cocktails inspired by the show’s three main characters, appropriately dubbed Roger Sterling, Don Draper, and Betty Francis.
The Roger Sterling, so named for the classic “Mad Man” with a dirty side, is a classic martini made with Belvedere, olive juice, and blue cheese olives; the Don Draper skews slick and contemporary, featuring Hendricks Gin, vermouth, and cucumber ribbons; and the Betty Francis is a sexy and sensual combination of Belvedere, Monin violet syrup, Fee Bros. Peach Bitters, and Pernod.
Of note, the Chicago location of Sullivan’s is not open for lunch, but they will feature the drink specials on the dinner menu and in the bar area.
