Top Steakhouses for Easter Dining in Chicago

Easter Dining in Chicago

Considering the prominence of meat-eating going on for Easter (it is the end of Lent, after all), steakhouses are pretty much your best bet for holiday dining. Chicago has got plenty of options to choose from this year, too. Here are three of the best Easter offerings at local steakhouses:

Easter Dining in Chicago & Mortons

.

III Forks Prime Steakhouse: Celebrate the holiday with a three-course Easter menu at this downtown steakhouse. Available all day long, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on April 16, the menu is the handiwork of chef Cedric Harden, who provides choices for each course. A children’s prix fixe for those 12 and younger is also available, and guests can also order off an a la carte menu if they’d prefer. The prix fixe starts with choice of III Forks salad (green apple slices, Wisconsin blue cheese, toasted pecans, field greens and maple-walnut vinaigrette) or Caesar salad, followed by entrees like roasted tenderloin with shallot-thyme veal demi-glace and whipped potatoes, double-cut herb-crusted lamb chop with braised fennel and roasted fingerling potatoes, and airline chicken paillard with oyster mushroom and smoked bacon veloute, with whipped potatoes and crispy Brussels sprouts. For dessert, there’s Texas pecan cake or a chocolate-lover’s confection. The cost for the tasting is $50 per person and reservations can be made online or by calling the restaurant.

Shaw’s Crab House: When one buffet just doesn’t cut it, there’s always Shaw’s Crab House. The venerable bastion for seafood and steak is rolling out two buffets for Easter, starting with a brunch buffet and culminating with a dinner version at 2:00 p.m. The brunch buffet features an abundance of classic items like omelets, waffles, crepes, surf & turf, crab legs, lobster bisque, hand-carved beef, ham, sushi, oysters, salads and sweets like key lime custard, cupcakes, cookies and pecan tartlets. Come dinner, the buffet will be similar, but with the addition of leg of lamb, salmon, mashed potatoes and pineapple bread pudding. Both buffets cost $75 for adults and $20 for children 12 and younger. An a la carte menu will be available from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the oyster bar only. Reservations can be made by calling Shaw’s.

Morton’s The Steakhouse: All locations of this local mainstay are open for Easter, featuring a holiday special surf & turf of center-cut filet mignon and baked Maine lobster. The dish costs $56, and the full dinner menu will also be available.
